YARD SPECIALIST

McCoy Construction & Forestry, a John Deere dealership group with 25 locations across the Midwest, has an opening for a Yard Specialist.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Insures equipment is displayed to create the best image for McCoy CF by making sure it is thoroughly clean, aligned neatly, and rotated to present different product lines
  • Receives equipment when entering the company premises while providing a thorough walk-around inspection looking for damage or other deficiencies on the equipment, taking photos of any damage to the equipment and notifying supervisor immediately (Uses proper checklist form for equipment being returned)
  • Checks in equipment coming in for service immediately when truck pulls into yard and will keep yearlong file of IN/OUT records of whole goods
  • Insures equipment has all the proper documentation before leaving the store
  • Assists in loading the equipment by using the proper checklist form for equipment leaving the store which includes proper rental agreement, Insurance certificate from the customer, locating equipment in the yard, checking to insure the fuel tank is full, starting and operating equipment to insure equipment is operating successfully, insuring equipment has all equipment as stated on the equipment description (i.e. controls, bucket, cutting edges, oil leaks), conducting proper walk-around inspection for damage or other deficiencies, documenting any damage on equipment, and having the driver sign a shipper
  • Maintains a current listing of all equipment and attachments in inventory, reviews and updates whole goods and attachment inventory once per week or as needed
  • Assists the parts department to insure products are stored properly and placed on proper shelves in the parts warehouse
  • Works in conjunction with the Service Department, Parts Department, and Sales Department to maintain and clean, safe, and professional environment for our customers and employees
  • Deliver parts and machine attachments to customers when deemed necessary
  • Position will report to the Branch Service Manager
  • This position is responsible for coordinating the daily activities of equipment at the branch, which include sales, service, parts and inventory
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, electronic, or schedule form



Skills


  • Good work ethic

  • High level of communication skills (oral and written)
  • Must be 21 years old, with a valid driver’s license



Education


  • High school diploma or equivalent with one-year post high school education in heavy equipment 
  • 2-year degree and familiarity with industrial equipment, such as construction or forestry equipment is preferred
